Mountain States, Inc. was founded in 1974 exclusively to rebuild printing equipment for the Goss Division of Rockwell International. We began as a "labor only" supplier, using local machine shops to perform repairs on individual components as necessary. In 1975, our first Bridgeport Universal Mill was purchased.

As the press rebuilding business grew, more and more capabilities became necessary. The unique tolerances of printing press components made relying on outside vendors difficult. In 1978, our addition of precision grinding and metal spraying allowed us to remanufacture cylinders in-house.

Our services were later expanded to include field installation, service support, start-up assistance, and emergency repairs. To support this effort, additional grinding and precision boring capabilities were added in 1979. In 1980, we became the supplier of choice for rebuilding double-width copper and chrome rollers to several metropolitan newspapers.

The expansion into double-width press support continued with the installation of automated welding and grinding equipment. This was done in order to apply the most corrosion resistant material available to the printing surface of Metro plate and blanket cylinders. The strict tolerance requirements for machining plate cylinder slots was achieved by adding computer controlled machinery and tool maker techniques.

Present plans include a custom designed facility to accommodate material handling equipment for the remanufacturing of double-width presses. Mountain States, Inc. been a company of steady growth based on an ever expanding base of satisfied customers. We understand the printing industry's demand for quality performance from its suppliers, which has been the foundation of our success from the very start.
